It’s officially November – time to bid adieu to warm weather days and start dressing for the chilly New York City winter. And you know what that means: it’s time to shop. I sat down with Nilou Ghodsi, style maven and owner of high-end women’s boutique Heist in Venice, California (don’t worry New Yorkers, her entire boutique can also be shopped online at ShopHeist.com) to learn a thing or two about layering clothes when the temp drops.
Jeanette Zinno: How can we stay stylish this winter without looking too bundled up?
Nilou Ghodsi (pictured above): Layering is essential to transitioning into winter as the temperature can vary quite a bit, from morning to mid-day to nighttime.
JZ: What are your go-to tips for mastering the art of layering?
NG: I always love to incorporate a jacket or coat with a pop of color, which allows me to keep the rest of my attire simple and versatile (ie: black, white, denim) without being boring. This is especially important while traveling, since I can’t have access to my entire closet and need to have a few “uniforms” that will sustain me for the duration of my trip.
JZ: What are some of your favorite pieces from your boutique for layering?
NG: Perfect examples are the Harris Wharf London coats, and their $500-$600 price point makes them even more accessible.
Thanks, Nilou! Now, here are some of my favorite styles for the season. X Jeanette | @jeanettezinno
